Biggest Need

GOYA/REM Teacher

A “share” is a simple and meaningful way to support one of our teachers. Each share represents $100 per month, and our goal is to provide three shares per teacher each month—ensuring they receive the consistent support they need to continue investing in their students. Right now, we are significantly underfunded in this area, and many of our teachers are not yet receiving this full level of support. This is where you can make a direct and lasting impact. We invite you to prayerfully consider sponsoring one or more shares. Whether you give one share or several, you are helping us move closer to fully supporting every teacher who is shaping the lives of students in our schools. Together, we can reach this goal and strengthen the foundation of education for every child we serve.

Final phase to finish High School Dorm!

$0.00 raised
%
The biggest project we had hoped to fund at last year’s Give Hope banquet was for a new girl’s dorm at the high school. Incredibly, due to your generosity, we’ve nearly fully funded it and construction is nearly complete!! This is the first in a series of dominos in what we described as the 'domino effect'. By building the new girl’s dorm, we can move the girls from the dorm they’re currently in to the new dorm. That allows us to move the boys out of their building into the old girl’s dorm. Then we can utilize the space the boys were in as boarding facility for our junior high school students. By moving the junior higher out of the slum’s schools, we can open up more enrollment space in our primary schools which allows us to reach and enroll even more primary school students in the slums. Incredibly, it’s all going exactly as we had hoped! The new dorm is 90% funded. But that leaves us with a $33,000 gap to our total goal. Would you consider donating to the dorm campaign today by clicking the link below or in the bio to learn more about the dorm project and to help us get this project completed?! We’re so close to knocking over this first major domino. Help us kick this one over and the ripple effect will impact nearly every part of the ministry! We’ll be sure to keep you all posted on the completion of this project here as we march toward the finish line!

HELP US RAISE $6500 FOR OUR NEW WELL! With the generosity of one of our donors, $6500 will actually multiply into $13,000!! Read more about this exciting project: In 2018 we had a campaign to raise $16,200 to drill a deep water well for our 360 high school students in Kenya who have been pulled out of the slums of Nairobi to receive their high school education. We are extremely pleased to report that the well has been dug and the water has been found to be pure!  We are now beginning the final phase of the well which will be the purchasing and installing of the pump and solar panels. An additional $13,000 is needed to complete the project. To jump start this funding, a donor has offered to match dollar for dollar all donations made before April 1st up to $6,500 to complete the project! Please do not miss this opportunity to make your $10 become $20, or your $100 become $200.  Please help our brothers and sisters in Kenya have much needed clean drinking water for themselves and their farm!

We are excited to have officially launched our new Home Sciences classroom at our high school! Since this class will require some of its material to be replenished regularly, we are in need of support for items to restock the room in order for our students to continue working on projects throughout the school year. We can source much of what we need in country for a great cost! When you give toward this fund, your donations will go towards items such as fabric, notions, sewing machine belts and other maintenance items, thread, sewing kits, and more. Your support will also make it possible for us to purchase sewing machines that can be operated with a treadle for use in locations where electricity is not reliable. These machines, with the built in table, cost approx. $200 in Nairobi where we will be purchasing them. Thank you so much for making the opportunity possible for our students so that they can graduate with the training and knowledge of such a valuable skill!

Brick By Brick

All of the agriculture work we’ve been doing in the last several years has really made an impact, especially during the global pandemic. The farm at the school in the Ngong Valley has really been instrumental in sustaining many of the children and faculty there. The cows we bought last year through the “Milk Money” campaign have been providing milk and are now pregnant. We will soon be bursting at the seams in the cow shed! Our rabbits have provided a quick source of protein and, even after a large slaughter, the population has soared from 25-30 to over 200! Our first step is to raise funds for doubling our cow shed and rabbit building capacity, at a cost of $17,500. One of our volunteers that has previously travelled to Kenya can’t go this year because of the uncertainty of international travel right now. But that's not stopping him from being on mission right here at home! Instead of helping to build a cow shed with a team in Kenya, Mitch will be donating a portion of his labor on a landscape project for a client here in the Bloomington/Normal community. In lieu of paying him labor for construction of a retaining wall and 4 stone pillars, the client has agreed to donate the equivalent to the GOYA “Brick By Brick” Agriculture project! Unfortunately, this will not cover the entire cost -- so we need your help! There are 250 blocks (+/-) that are needed for this wall and these 4 pillars. To raise the remaining money to do this project it breaks down to $70 per block. So, we invite you to sponsor a block, or more, by making a donation to the GOYA Brick by Brick campaign! As HE builds the wall, YOU are building a floor, a cow stall, a rabbit pen, and bags of feed as well as some much needed equipment to handle the new expansion.   We hope this opportunity inspires you to get involved with building the kingdom in Kenya through a local project that helps us GO when we can't be sent! This home will offer them much need space and retreat from the rigors of their vocation. We are also very excited to offer a place for them to be reunited with their families. Jr High Grand Opening

$2,050.00 raised
%
Education is a fundamental human right that should be accessible to all children regardless of their background or economic status. Unfortunately, in many parts of Kenya that we serve, access to education is hindered by inadequate infrastructure, resources, and basic amenities such as desks for studying. In Ngong, Kenya, we’re are finalizing preparation to open our first Jr high school but we need 50 desks for our Jr high students to concentrate on their studies. As a donor, you have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of these children. By donating to our campaign aimed at purchasing 50 desks for our Jr High School in Kenya, you are helping to provide a basic necessity that will have a ripple effect on the education and future prospects of these children. Having a desk to sit on while studying may seem like a small thing, but it can make a huge difference in a child's education. When students have a comfortable and supportive learning environment, they are more likely to engage in their studies and perform better academically. By donating to this campaign, you are investing in the education and future of these children. Education is a critical tool that can break the cycle of poverty and create opportunities for children to lead successful lives. Providing desks for these students not only shows that we care about their education but also gives them the necessary tools to succeed. Moreover, donating to this campaign is an excellent way to give back and make a positive impact on the world. It is a chance to help those who are less fortunate and provide them with the necessary resources to achieve their full potential. It is a way to make a meaningful contribution to the global community and be a part of a larger movement towards education for all. Donating to our campaign to purchase 50 desks for a Jr High School in Kenya is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on the education and future of these children. It is a chance to provide a basic necessity that will have a lasting impact on their academic performance, well being, and overall quality of life. So, let us come together and make a difference in the lives of these children. By donating to this campaign, we can make a significant contribution to the world and create a brighter future for these students.

2022 Give Hope Banquet - Second Dorm

$79,287.25 raised
%
Our greatest need going into 2023 WAS a dormitory for the high school boys. But the Kenyan Ministry of Education is now requiring us to setup a Jr High which totally scrambled our priorities...or so we thought.   You may or may not know that the High School boys are currently living in a building that was originally built to be an orphanage or grade school, so it was designed with two wings, a boys wing and girls wing with a dining/study hall and kitchen connecting them in the middle. The high school boys have temporarily occupied the entire building since 2018.   This building was originally designed to a school…we had envisioned it being an elementary school one day. But now the Kenyan Government is requiring a Jr High.   So, the thought dawned on us…maybe this government requirement for a Jr High doesn’t need to take priority OVER the boy’s dorm. What if…we could raise enough to build the new dorm. Then we could move our high school girls into the new dorm. By doing that we could move the boys into the old girl’s dorm which is a huge upgrade for them. And by moving the boys out of their current building, that building could now become our Jr High? Can you see the domino effect of the dorm?    Building the dorm, provides an upgrade for the girls, a massive upgrade for the boys AND allows us to setup the Junior High.   But, what about the cost of additional staff for the Junior High. Well, we already have “junior high” staff. THey are already teaching those children at the elementary schools. We will simply move them from the elementary schools to the Central Ministry in Ngong.   In fact, think about the 4th domino in this line. If we move our upper elementary school children to a Jr High at the Central Ministry in Ngong, we will then have space for 200-400 new elementary school students in our slums schools.   So, by building the dorm, we provide an incredible new space for our girl and by moving our girls, we can provide an incredible new space for our boys. And by moving our boys, we provide an incredible space for our Jr High and by moving our upper elementary students to the Jr High, we can enroll 200-400 new students at our slums schools….children that would otherwise not have access to education and discipleship.   By doing this ONE THING…we are doing FOUR things! We love when God goes miles ahead of us clearing the path forward!   But what will it cost? Check this out because this might be the most exciting part. The dorm was estimated to cost $360,000 a year ago. And then two incredible things happened: We had a couple of incredibly generous donors get us WAY ahead of where I thought we’d be. Of the $360,000 we need; we have already raised $210,000!!!!! Then for our last board meeting, I re-ran the estimates and something happened that’s never happened before. You see our estimates come in the form of Shillings. We have to convert that to dollars to figure out he budget. There is always a little bit of movement in the currency exchange markets but over the past year the dollar has become incredibly strong against the shilling. This project, that was set to cost $360,000 just a year ago, will now cost $297,000 because of changes in the currency exchange markets!! We just got a $63,000 donation from the currency exchange markets!! This has NEVER happened before!   Gang, what this means is that we’re not trying to raise $360,000. We’re trying to raise $297,000. But we’re not trying to raise $297,000 because several incredibly generous people have already given $210,000. GUYS…that means that tonight, instead of pleading for $360,000, we only need $87,000!!!! And it’s not just for one project…raising that $87,000 allows us to green light the new dorm which will bless the high school girls and by moving he girls, this will bless the high school boys and by moving the high school boys, we can create the government mandated Junior high and by moving the junior high kids from the slums to the Junior high, we can enroll 200-400 new children in our slums schools.   I love how our plan was to build a dorm.   The government’s plan was to build a junior high   But God’s plan appears to be to build the new dorm for the girls, so the boys can be blessed so the Jr High kids would be blessed so that 200-400 children without access to education or discipleship would be blessed.   His plans are SO much bigger and so much better than our own.

Osenga Family Missions Trip

$9,872.82 raised

Hello! Thank you for considering supporting our family, as we go to Kenya to serve & encourage the incredible team at REM School & all the GOYA supported endeavors. This will be our family's first experience seeing & experiencing the ministry efforts of GOYA first hand. For the entirety of our children's lives, our family has supported GOYA & the children they serve in Kenya. Our good friends Chad & Roxy Parker lead the US fundraising & strategic efforts of GOYA Ministries, who work diligently to advocate & fundraise for the staff & board in Kenya providing so many incredible programs & opportunities. All of this is done to radically transform the slums of Nairobi with the hope & love of Jesus Christ, raising up the next generation of workers, pastors & leaders to advance God's kingdom in East Africa!   We are honored that our family will have the opportunity to go in June of 2024, where we will get to see the campus, meet the staff & students, as well as help put the finishing touches on the short term missionary housing building project on the REM Campus in the Gong Hills just outside of Nairobi. All of us will be partnering with Jesus over these months & weeks leading up to our trip, to prayerfully determine how each of us might use our God given gifts to serve & encourage the students, as well as the staff who work so hard day in & day out to love these kiddos.   We look forward to coming back to our community having experienced the ways God has & continues to move in this different part of the world, and do what we can to advocate for their continued health & growth to all whom he'd have us share our stories with. Would you please consider being a part of this journey with us? We are looking for people who are ready to partner with us in both Prayer & Financial Support. We need both. In recent days, our family has become increasingly more aware that we serve an incredibly kind, generous & powerful God, and also there is evil in the world who does not want the people or the ways of God to be successful here. We covet your prayers as we travel across the world to bring encouragement & to learn from these incredible followers of Jesus.   Additionally, we welcome your financial support. We desire for your invested partnership in helping our family step out in faith in this manner & trust that He, through His people, can provide the necessary financial resources for our team to embark on this week of service & learning. If you have read this far, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and we look forward to sharing all we have seen & learned once we come back!   Sincerely,   Robbie, Candice, Kelsey, Reese & Graham Osenga

Strong roots for lasting hope. We are launching a $90,000 online giving campaign to uphold and grow the core of our ministry and meet urgent needs in South B and the school in Homa Bay Kenya. Your generosity right now will have a life-changing impact in three critical areas: 1. Strengthening Our Core: Investing in Our Staff Our Kenyan staff...our teachers, administrators, coaches, kitchen teams, ministry leaders are the heart of GOYA. They pour themselves into students every single day. They disciple, they encourage, they guide, they teach. To continue transforming communities with excellence, we must invest in the people who make this ministry possible. Your support will provide: Essential staff raises Professional development and leadership training Tools and mentoring to help every team member grow in their calling This investment ensures our staff remains rooted, equipped, and empowered to carry out our mission with strength and stability. 2. Emergency Fire Relief: Rebuilding in South B Slum Late night on November 19th, tragedy struck our South B campus when a devastating fire destroyed our pre-school, kindergarten, and first-grade classrooms. By God’s grace, no children or staff were harmed...but the physical loss is significant. Rebuilding will be necessary, and while we do not yet know the full cost, we know we must act quickly to restore a safe, vibrant learning environment for our youngest students. Your gift today helps us begin the rebuilding process—with courage, compassion, and faith that God will redeem what was lost. 3. Completing Our School in Homa Bay In Homa Bay, we’ve built classrooms from pre-K through 3rd grade and the school and church are flourishing. But our 4th–6th grade students currently meet outside beneath an acacia tree. They show up every day, eager to learn, but they deserve a proper classroom shelter from the heat, the rain, and the distractions. To finish what we started, we need $40,000 to build: 4th–6th grade classrooms A dedicated teacher room Secure, lasting space where learning and discipleship can thrive This project will deepen our investment in a community where hope is already taking root and growing. Strong roots for lasting hope. This campaign is about more than buildings or salaries it’s about stability, dignity, and the long-term transformation of lives and communities in Kenya through the love and hope of Christ. When you give, you are helping GOYA stand firm like the tree in Jeremiah 17...deeply rooted, bearing fruit no matter the season. Every dollar is an act of faith. Every gift helps restore, rebuild, and reinforce what God is doing. Every contribution reminds our staff and students that they are seen, valued, and loved. Would You Join Us? Your generosity today strengthens our roots so we can keep bearing fruit...fruit that looks like hope, education, safety, discipleship, and the bright future of every child we serve. We invite you to prayerfully consider standing with us. Give today. Plant deeper roots. Transform lives. Bear lasting fruit.
